Michael Parkes captures the magic of the unexpected in atmospheric realms of wonder that combine fantasy and reality. The world’s leading Magical Realist artist, Parkes weaves a mesmerizing spell of realism, symbolism and surrealism with his works. After briefly teaching at Kent State, Parkes began pursuing art full time, traveling to Europe, India, Tibet, Nepal and Pakistan to enrich his craft. Originally painting Abstract Expressionist works, he developed his signature style of inducing startling effects through images of objects outside the normal sequence of reason and logic. A versatile artist, Parkes is also highly skilled in sculpting, and color stone lithography. |
